SEATTLE, Washington — Seattle residents and visitors are being advised to plan ahead for increased transportation demand associated with major sporting events. Sound Transit has issued a travel advisory warning passengers about potential crowds at stations, on platforms, aboard trains, and in parking facilities.
According to the notice, two sporting events are scheduled for the evening: an NHL matchup between the Seattle Kraken and the Toronto Maple Leafs at 7 p.m., followed by an MLS game featuring Seattle Sounders FC and Houston Dynamo FC at 7:30 p.m.
The events could bring additional spectators into the city and increase demand for public transportation, particularly on routes serving stadiums and nearby areas. Commuters may encounter heavier passenger traffic, crowded platforms, and busier trains as fans make their way to the games.
Parking availability may also be limited. Sound Transit warns that parking facilities can fill up quickly on game days, sometimes well before events begin. Drivers planning to park near transit stations are encouraged to arrive early and consider alternative transportation options if spaces are unavailable.
Passengers traveling to work, appointments, or sporting events should allow extra time for their journeys and review their routes before leaving. Checking official service alerts in advance may help travelers identify potential disruptions and make alternative plans when necessary.
Sound Transit provides current service information and travel-planning resources through its official website. Passengers can review service alerts and explore alternative travel options here:

Travelers should note that the original notification lists its last update as September 18, 2026, at 4:36 a.m. Because that timestamp predates October 28, 2026, the current validity of the advisory and the event schedules should be independently verified before publication.
