REDMOND, Wash. — The closure of NE 128th Way near Avondale Road NE has been extended, with the road now expected to reopen on November 20, 2026.
The road has been closed since August 17 while crews complete a culvert replacement project. During construction, workers discovered that additional work was needed at the project site and a nearby location, causing unexpected delays.
King County decided to complete the additional work during the existing closure to avoid disrupting the community with another closure later.
Much of the remaining work involves concrete paving. After the concrete is poured, it needs time to cure and develop sufficient strength to safely support vehicle traffic.
NE 128th Way remains closed to vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists during construction. A signed detour route is in place, and travelers should follow posted signs and allow extra time for their trips.
The reopening date is currently anticipated to be November 20, 2026, although the schedule may change depending on construction progress.
