The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 21, near the North Meridian railroad crossing by Puyallup Station. Authorities identified the man as 59-year-old Richard Geiger.
According to local news reports, Geiger was attempting to cross the tracks when his wheelchair became stuck. As a freight train approached, a bystander stopped to help, and another person joined the rescue attempt. Despite their efforts, they were unable to move him to safety in time.
